BREATH IN, BREATH OUT

CURATED BY YVENA DESPAGNE

Concept: Breath In Breath Out is an art show that exhibits the meditative process through visual form. The concept behind the show is to share how art may be beneficial in helping one find inner peace, during a time of stress, turmoil, anxiety or any emotion that may be difficult to process. Expressing yourself through art can positively affect your ability to process grief, express anger, focus and relax. What matters most is the release of emotional impact when you create.

NATHALIE JB

The Pandemic Collection

In this colletion, Nathalie used her art as a medium to explore healing and free expression, alongside the concept of control during the 2020 pandemic. With spatial and tool restrictions, this collection explores the anchoring aspect of art in a time when the mind goes adrift.

Nathalie JB is a Haitian contemporary artist, based in NYC. Her goal is to use art as a means to awaken, educate, create, entertain and most importantly heal. Most of her work touches on emotional and identity notions vis-a-vis of society and cultural standards.

SOFIA ZUBI

The subject of Sofia’s work has been both personal and symbolic, inspired by actual experiences and dreams. Sofia started her visual diary series in 2013, during her studies at Pratt Institute. Her body of work has since evolved into a narrative journey, illustrating the Princess as an illusive spectacle of herself. Sofia’s drawings and paintings tell stories through invented and historical symbolism, examining portals of literature, philosophy, and multicultural folktales.
